Changelog
What’s new in each version of Mailroom, newest first.
0.10.1
- Sign in with Google uses Google’s own button, as Mailroom gets ready for a Google sign-in that needs no setup.
0.10.0
- Google Calendar and Outlook. In Settings › Accounts, a Gmail or Google Workspace account can connect Google Calendar, and an Outlook.com or Microsoft 365 account can connect Outlook Calendar, with Sign in with Google or Microsoft through the app you register with them. It’s a sign-in of its own, so your mail keeps working however it signs in now. Google and Outlook send the invitations to your events and your answers to invitations themselves.
- Other addresses. In Settings › Accounts, list the other addresses an account sends from, like hello@ on your own domain, or *@ and a domain for a catch-all. Pick one in From, and replies come from the address the message was sent to.
0.9.0
- Snooze. Put a conversation away until later today, tomorrow, the weekend, next week or a time you pick: the clock button,
b, or right-click › Snooze. It waits in a Snoozed folder on your mail server, so it leaves the Inbox on your phone too, and comes back to the top of your Inbox, unread, when it’s due. If Mailroom isn’t open then, it comes back when you next open it. - Your Mac’s mail app. Settings › General › Make Mailroom your mail app. Email links on websites and in other apps then open a new message in Mailroom, and links in your mail already do.
- Go to Folder. Press
gthenf, or ⇧⌘G, type part of a folder’s or tag’s name, and press Return.
0.8.1
- No flicker moving between emails. The next conversation appears in one step, complete, instead of its message blanking and jumping into place.
- No scroll bar inside an email. Making the window narrower no longer leaves a scroll bar inside the message; it grows to fit instead.
- Accounts in your order. Drag an account’s name in the sidebar above or below another, or right-click it for Move Up and Move Down.
0.8.0
- Empty Junk and Empty Trash. The top of each folder says how much is in it, with a button to empty it, and so does right-clicking the folder. Mailroom asks first, then deletes everything there for good, older mail it hasn’t downloaded yet included.
- Search suggestions. The search box suggests what you can search for as you type: people for
from:andto:, folders forin:, tags, and dates. - Search by folder and date.
in:archive,-in:sent,after:2026-09-01,before:today, and Gmail’snewer_than:7dandolder_than:1y. - Proofread. A button in the composer fixes spelling, grammar and punctuation with the AI service you set up, and ⌘Z undoes it. Nothing is sent until you click it, and images stay on your Mac.
0.7.0
- Tooltips. Rest the pointer on a button to see what it does, and its shortcut where it has one.
- Unread filter. The Unread switch beside a mailbox’s name shows only conversations with unread mail, and each mailbox remembers its own setting. The conversation you’re reading stays in the list until you open another.
0.6.0
- Automatic updates. Mailroom checks for new versions, downloads them in the background, and installs them when you quit, or straight away when you click Restart. Mailroom › Check for Updates… checks now.
- Move to Applications. If Mailroom is running from somewhere it can’t update itself, such as your Downloads folder, Settings › About offers to move it into Applications.
0.5.0
- Signed and notarized by Apple. Mailroom opens like any other Mac app, and macOS stops asking about the Keychain after each update.
- A new icon, in amber.
- Fixed: if a window couldn’t load its settings when it opened, Mailroom held off marking messages as read. It now tries again.
0.4.0
- Appearance settings. Choose light, dark or the same as macOS, an accent colour, the text size, how compact the message list is, and whether Calendar and Contacts appear in the sidebar.
- Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Mailroom asks you to agree to them the first time it opens, and links to them from the Help menu and Settings › About.
- Fixed: AI replies, translations and summaries could come back empty with models that think before they answer.
0.3.0
- Add any account. Pick Gmail, Outlook.com, Microsoft 365, Yahoo, iCloud, Fastmail, Purelymail, Proton Mail Bridge, Zoho, AOL, GMX, Yandex, Mail.ru or any other IMAP server. Mailroom fills in the server settings and tells you which password to use.
- Settings found for you. Type your address and Mailroom works out the rest, even for your own domain. Only the domain is looked up, never your address.
- Sign in with Google, Microsoft or Yahoo in your browser, through an app you register with them. Outlook.com and Microsoft 365 need this.
- Signatures on replies are optional. Turn them off for replies and forwards, and add one to a single message when you want it.
- New settings: how long Undo Send waits, when mail is marked as read, notifications for all mail or only your contacts, images loaded automatically in mail from your contacts, and AI that runs on your Mac with Ollama or LM Studio.
- About in Settings, with version details, Open at Login and a shortcut to your data folder.
0.2.0
- Print a conversation or a single message, or save it as a PDF.
- Translate. Mailroom notices mail in another language, on your Mac without sending anything, and offers to translate it.
- Summarize a long conversation in a few sentences: what’s been decided and what’s still open.
- Invite people to your events. Guests get an invitation that Gmail, Outlook and Apple Calendar understand, and their answers show on the event. Changes and cancellations go out to them too.
- Contacts, synced with your provider’s address books or kept on your Mac. People you’ve emailed are a click away from being added, and your contacts come first when you type a recipient.
- Safer reading: an Unsubscribe link on newsletters, a check before opening a link that may not go where it says, a warning when your mail server couldn’t confirm who sent a message, and Show Original.
0.1.2
- Message details. See who a message was from and to, cc and bcc, which server sent and signed it, and whether it arrived over an encrypted connection.
- A menu on every message in a conversation, and on right-click: Reply, Reply All, Forward, Delete, Report Spam, Mark Unread from Here, Move To, Star and Save As.
- Zoom with ⌘+ and ⌘−. Mailroom remembers the size.
- Better AI replies. Reply with AI reads the whole message you’re answering, and the gist of the messages before it.
0.1.1
- Fixed: calendar sync with Purelymail. New events no longer vanish for a moment after you save them, and editing an event no longer makes a copy.
- Fixed: blocked images leave empty space instead of broken-image icons.
0.1.0
The first version, for Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
- Mail from any IMAP account: conversations, search, tags, new mail as it arrives, undo, working offline, drafts and Undo Send.
- Keyboard shortcuts from Gmail and the Mac.
- A calendar that syncs over CalDAV, with invitations you can answer from your inbox.
- Reply with AI.
